I have been thinking quite a bit in terms of the types of clothes and accessories that we buy and where they come from.
A few years ago, I made a pledge to myself to make more of my clothes. I had the skills and was sick of finding a lack of good quality items that were appropriate to what I needed.
From this I wondered what the real cost of cheap and inexpensive clothing is. Are we just sending all these $5 tops to landfill after one or two wears? What can we do to change our ways?
I've been reading and researching some of the facts and figures about this and wanted to start to document my own items to see what I was purchasing and how much use it really was getting! I want to see if documenting it changes my shopping patterns and if it will change others as well.
This is purely a documentation project! It is mostly for my own thoughts which may lead to my own art practice. I'm not out to change the world but to be more informed of my choices.
