I feel like I have my sewing mojo back! I made a dress, drafted the pattern and I am super happy with it! I can see that I will be making some more dresses for Summer in the near future.
The fabric I bought on sale from Spotlight for about $2 a metre. I used approximately 3 metres for this dress.
So, basically this dress took me 2.5 hours to make and cost under $10 to sew. Pretty awesome!!!
In a very spur of the moment shopping trip, I purchased a new bathing suit from Target for $55. We are heading to Sydney for the weekend and our hotel has a pool.
I usually go to Target for swimwear as I find that their sizings are 'real', the bathers cover where they should cover and aren't too skimpy.
All in all, a classic swimsuit and I'm pretty happy with it!
black dress by Marimekko, purchased in March 2011?
striped cardigan by Marimekko, purchased in February 2012 for approximately $140USD
stockings from local drugstore
yellow clogs by Ugglebo, hand made in Sweden
bag, Marimekko.
Yep, a Marimekko outfit! Most of these items have had loads of wear, except the cardigan as it is quite a statement piece. Everything is super comfortable though.
Was doing studio visits today so lots of walking around! This is a comfy ensemble that has dealt with carrying lots of stuff but also crazy weather too!
I had a conference to attend in the city so I needed to be comfortable to sit around during lectures but also groovy enough for attending an exhibition opening afterwards.
Unfortunately a glass of red wine was spilt on my dress! But I've managed to get it out!!!
Yellow VANS (no shoe laces), purchased for $20USD in San Jose in 2009.
I was working in the studio today, then in the garden. I did go out in the evening for a little while to see a friend dj, so I wore the dress that I wore yesterday.
clogs handmade by Ugglebo in Sweden, purchased in March 2012 for $150US
I wore this when I went to work, I then got changed to go to an event in the evening.
At the Belvedere Intense Unfiltered Launch, I'm on the right!
I changed to:
dress by Marimekko, purchased on sale in October 2012 for $95USD. It literally arrived from NYC that day!
Necklace by ELK, a Australian designer.
handmade shoes by local shoemaker
stockings from local drugstore
wool cape by NIQUE, purchased last Winter
Handbag from Canal street, purchased 2 years ago for about $30USD
I really can't help myself when I see that there is a Marimekko sale. I bought 3 dresses, all in soft jersey style fabrics for a total of $300USD. They will be great work dresses too.
I really need to make more dresses as the ones that I have made I wear so much. I know that time isn't an excuse but it has been super crazy and sewing is the last thing on my mind!
clogs by Ugglebo, handmade, purchased in March 2012
necklace by local artisan
giant yellow bag by Marimekko.
It was a beautiful day in Melbourne! Sun was out and I was heading to a friends place for a lovely crafting afternoon. Was wearing old clothes that are pretty comfortable and fun. I do need to repair my jeans though, they have a hole in them!!!
Iggy Pop Vans tee, purchased in February 2012 for about $20USD
Jeans from the GAP
sneakers from VANS
Was slouching around the house today, catching up on a few things. I love this t-shirt. It reminds me of our time in San Francisco and our adventure hiking in Balina (sp?). We met an old rocker dude who was a sandwich artist and made us the best sandwiches ever! He commented on my t-shirt and now I always think of that when I wear it. I can practically taste the pastrami!
I made this dress quite a few years ago, I do love it and amazingly it still fits me. The fabric is starting to fade a bit so it may only have one more year of 'work wear' in it over this Summer. I still love the design of it though.
VANS sneakers, purchased in February 2012 for $45USD.
Necklace handmade by local artisan
Bag, Marimekko.
Not much to report on this outfit other than my VANS are starting to look a bit worse for wear! I need to glue the rubber back to the canvas but I have been a little too lazy to do so!
